Modulus of Elasticity
Since concrete has no definite modulus of elasticity. The value is dependent on the characteristics of the cement and aggregates used, the age of the concrete and its strengths. According to section 419.2.2, the modulus of elasticity shall be permitted to be calculated as:
- For values of \(w_c\) between \(1400 (13.734 \frac{kN}{m^3})\) and \(2560 \frac{kg}{m^3}(25.1136 \frac{kN}{m^3})\)
- For normal-weight concrete
\(E_c = w_{c}^{1.5} 0.043 \sqrt{f'_c}\)
\(E_c = 4700 \sqrt{f'_c}\)
